The name of the Djirri Djirri Dance Group, which is the Woi wurrung (Wurundjeri)  name  for Willy Wagtail.  Djirri Djirri  is a little black bird who is well known to dance all the time, that is why the dance group was named that way.
The group offers dance as an interpretation of Wurundjeri culture with the essence of traditional dance and ceremony.  All  dances have a story, such as about creation, family and Country. Many children are engaged who are encouraged to take on a leadership role through the use of language and knowledge exchange in dance creation.
