CINQUE, MARCO, B.A. Lyric Tenor, expert in traditional Italian music
Marco Cinque studied and performed in Australia and Italy. Marco was honoured with the opportunity to sing for Maestro Luciano Pavarotti and work on facets of singing technique accompanied by renowned conductor Leone Magiera. At the recommendation of Maestro Andrea Licata, Marco studied with celebrated baritone Enzo Sordello in Italy. Marco was awarded the Umberto Giordano Scholarship in vocal studies which enabled him to study with conductor and vocal teacher Maestro Lorenzo Castriota Skanderbeg in Italy.
He has undertaken operatic roles with Melbourne City Opera including: Alfredo in La Traviata; Rudolfo in La Bohème; Nemorino in L’ Elisir D’ Amore; Fenton in Falstaff; Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi; Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville, Turriddu in Cavalleria Rusticana; Frederick in The Pirates Of Penzance; El Remendado in Carmen; Peppe in I Pagliacci (also toured the roles with the S.A company Co Opera nationally); Il Giudice in Un Ballo in Maschera; Spolletta in Tosca; Tinca in Il Tabarro; Ernest in The Obelisk; and the soldier in The Widow. In 2007, Marco debuted in the roles of Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and as Foresto in Verdi’s Attila. In 2009 Marco sang the title role of Ernani and Rodolfo in Luisa Miller by G.Verdi at BMW Edge theatre in Melbourne. In 2010 made his debut in the title role of Andrea Chenier by U. Giordano, Ruggero in La Rondine by Puccini and June 2012 made his debut as Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca under the baton of Maestro Gaetano Colajanni
In concert, Marco has sung the tenor role of Uriel in Haydn’s The Creation; Camille in The Merry Widow as well as the lead tenor parts in Mozart’s Requiem and in Carmina Burana. Marco sang as a special guest at the Second of June Festival for the Republic, a Republic Day festival with the “Umberto Giordano” Symphonic Orchestra in Foggia, Italy and at the Castello Di Medici in Tuscany. Back home he performed in The Pavarotti Story, sang the role of Jaquino in Beethoven’s Fidelio for Melbourne City Opera and Ismael in Verdi’s Nabucco as well as Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth with the Heidelberg Chorale Society. In 2012 he took part in the Tribute Concert to Dame Joan Sutherland with the Melbourne City Opera Company.
Past theatre experiences have included the role of Tony Candolino in the award winning ICA production of Maria Callas Masterclass starring Amanda Muggleton and directed by Rodney Fisher which toured nationally. Marco performs regularly in concert throughout Australia in both cultural and corporate events and was part of a live video linkup with Italy celebrating the centenary of Guiseppe Verdi’s death. Pursuing other stagecraft Marco has performed in film, and has recorded in popular music and operatic genres.
In July 2015 Marco will be opening the International David Bowie symposium singing the hit song Heroes accompanied by David Kram as part of the David Bowie Is Exhibition from V and A in London .
Marco had done touring with the Australian Three Tenors Tribute Show, paying tribute to the legendary tenors, Pavarotti, Carreras and Domingo.
