ARVIDSON, RHYS, B. Mus. (Hons.) organist
Rhys Arvidson gained his B. Mus. (Hons.) from the University of Newcastle Conservatorium, studying organ with Dr. Philip Matthias. He also served as an Organ Scholar of Christchurch Cathedral, Newcastle for two years.
As an undergraduate Rhys was an Organ Scholar of Christchurch Cathedral, the accompanist to the Conservatorium and University choirs, and a member of the award-winning University of Newcastle Chamber Choir.
Since moving to Melbourne in 2008, Rhys continues an active musical life as an organist and choral conductor.
Rhys has given recitals on many instruments around the city and beyond including St Paul’s Cathedral, St Mary’s Basilica, Geelong, St Mark’s, Fitzroy, and All Saints’, East St Kilda. As an organ accompanist Rhys has performed with Australian Boys Choir, Melbourne Grammar Chapel Choir & Gloriana Chamber Choir.
Rhys is the Organist of St Peter’s, Eastern Hill, an organist at St Francis’, Lonsdale Street, and the Director of the St Francis’ Youth Choir who are delighted to erformerm in the WE ARE THE WORLD – Bring a Bell! Concert.
